Happy Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday to my Mom! She turned the big 2-9 today... ;) Hehe! Just kidding. Don't know that she would want me posting her age on the internet tho. HAHA! Anyways, go take a visit to her blog, Raspberries and Rose Petals, and wish her a huge HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! ... if you want. :)
Anyways, I made her cake!!! It is a french vanilla cake with raspberry jam filling, by her personal request. All the frosting is buttercream. This was my first time making roses with buttercream. I tell you what... they are super annoying! It is hard to get the right consistency so that they aren't all crumbly. :P
Brianna and Ben came home for the party! And it's a good thing too because otherwise we would have had too much cake! HA! And extra cake laying around is just NOT good... ;) It was great seeing them for a while! We spent the WHOLE day watching football games.
THE PACKERS KILLED THE VIQUEENS!!! WOOOOOOOT!!!... The Packers are amazing. :)
So, in the end, the cake turned out to be a success. I was a little worried about the stupid frosting making the roses all terrible and such, but all is good! It was a great time spent with family. :)

Have a wonderful Sunday night!

Un Magnifique Gâteau!! (A Wonderful Cake!)

I made a cake for my family in Marshfield while I was visiting last week! This cake is a French vanilla cake mix and is filled with raspberry jam. It was my first time trying to make the frosting look smooth! It's actually quite simple, just take a paper towel without a design on it (like the Viva brand) and use your hand to smooth all over the cake! :)
Course I had some extra cake mix so I just HAD to use Gramma's mini cupcake pan!!! SO CUTE!!!!!! She ended up giving the pans to me, so now I will make mini cupcakes ALL THE TIME! They are terrible because they are bite size so you end up eating like... 10 of them! HAHA!
I used royal icing to make some flowers to put on top of the cake. Everyone was watching me... so the first few turned out really terrible because I was shaking so bad. HAHA! But the rest turned out good!
Et Voilà! Le gâteau fini! (The finished cake ;D)
I just love the colors! The green on the leaves is so vibrant! Well, the flowers (being made with royal icing and all) turned out to be hard as a rock so we couldn't even cut through them. HAHA! Sooo... next time that I actually want to EAT the flowers, I will make them with a stiff buttercream. :)

Well, that is all for now! Hope you have a wonderful night!
Au Revoir! À bientôt! (See you soon :))

I'm Dreaming Of A White Christmas!

Is it too early for Christmas songs? I think not!!! :D

I saw this year's FIRST SNOW in Marshfield, WI. I was visiting my family there and it started snowing on Sunday. Of course none of it actually stayed on the ground for very long, but it was still fun to watch! The flakes were big and poofy! :) It got me in the Christmas Mood!

This is a look at my Great Grandma's house across the street. Do you see the tiny little white specks? Yup, that be snow! This was before it really started to fall.
This picture was taken from my Grandma's living room window. Her backyard bench already had a tiny layer of snow on it!
Ha! You can see all the snowflakes streaking across the picture. :)
All the white lines that go across the backyard is snow that stuck for a little bit. I think it looks kinda cool like that

Marshfield Wisconsin's First Snow

I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!! :D
I hope Green Bay gets some snow soon! It will inspire me to do some Christmas shopping. HAHA!

Have an awesome (hopefully snow-filled) day!

Long Time, No Blog!

Wow! It sure has been a while since I have posted anything. I have just been sooooo busy lately. So I guess I will just have to do some catch-up, show ya'll what I've been up to. :)

In my next cake class, the Flower and Cake Design Course, we started by making these wonderful flowers!!! They are made with Royal Icing, which basically hardens like a rock. Careful, you might break your teeth if you try and bite into one of these flowers.
These here are the Royal Icing Roses. Aren't they just beautiful? My teacher made this yellow one for a demonstration. I absolutely LOVE roses. The two little blue roses were a couple that I made. I like how one has a little bit of pink on the edges. (That happened because there was still a little bit of pink frosting left in the decorating tip. HA!)

And aren't these little flowers just the CUTEST!!! :D
The flower on the left is a Primrose. It was actually really fun to make, and once again SUPER CUTE! The tiny little flower on the right is an Apple Blossom. Just the cutest little flower in the world. :)
So there it is! All my wonderful icing flowers. :)

Hope you have a wonderful day!

"I AM NOT A WOMAN!!!"

Tonight I had to babysit Katherine! She is the daughter of a family from my church. Quite the exciting girl... never a dull moment. :)
We had lots of fun tonight... MAKING CUPCAKES!!!!!!!!! :D
These are for a party we are throwing at my house on Sunday night for the Packer game! So, of course, we had to color the cupcakes green and yellow! GO PACKER SPIRIT!!!
It was an eventful evening. While the cupcakes were baking, we watched a movie called The Secret Of Kells. It was rated the #1 animated movie last year or something. It was actually really good! I liked it! It's one of Katherine's favorite movies, so therefore I just HAD to see it. :)
Katherine's Quote Of The Night:
After my dad called out to her saying "WOMAN!!" she says, "I AM NOT A WOMAN!!!"
HA! Such an entertaining child. :)

Have an amazing weekend!
