Party Party Party - Day 19

Tonight was Savannah's birthday party! She was super happy when I brought her cake out. :) I am seriously in love with this cake tho! I am so happy that it turned out the way it did! :) And it was quite tasty too, other than the fact that if you ate the black frosting it would turn your mouth black. HA! Skye learned that all by herself. ;)
Presents!!! :) It's not a birthday party unless there are presents

Anyways, I am kind of tired after all that hard core partying. HA! ;) Have a great rest of your night!

Cows Go Moo! - Day 18

Happy 20th Birthday, Savannah! :)

Yup, today is Savannah's birthday... so I made her a CAKE!
In case you don't already know, Savannah LOVES cows! So what better cake to make for her than a COW PRINT CAKE!!! :D I can not take credit for the idea. Skye La Grew thought it would be fun so I tried it!
I knew it would turn out really cute as soon as I sketched the spots on! Tomorrow night we will be having a little get-together to hang out, eat cake, and celebrate Savannah being the oldest of our group. ;)
But oh my WORD! It was so hard trying to get the frosting to turn black... I pretty much had to use the ENTIRE little jar of black food coloring... it was getting pretty ridiculous... You can't have GREEN spots on a cow... NO!
But, in the end, it turned out AMAZING and I can't wait to give it to her tomorrow night! :)

Have a wonderful night!

Hippo Birdie Two Ewe

Yup! It was my sister Brianna's birthday on March 13th. She turned the big 2-0... CRAZY!!! But it was a fun time! :)
This was actually the first square cake that I have ever done. I actually kind of like it... but not as much as a circle cake. HAHA! And, I also bought this cool frosting tip that makes frosting the cake super easy. It worked AMAZING! All I had to do was spread it smooth and stuff. Definitely a good investment.
Anyways, the cake was chocolate and I filled it with chocolate pudding. MMM it was so yummy! It had real nice texture too. If you look at the edge where I cut the piece out, you will see the the top and sides all have the same amount of frosting. That is thanks to that frosting tip I bought! LIFE SAVER!!! ;)
Well, it was a great time, good cake, and Bri loved it! And really that's all that matters. :)

Au Revoir!

Super Bowl Sunday... GO PACK GO!!! ... Would you like some cake?

Ok, before I go on a total Packers rampage, I am gonna talk about a cake that I made. :) HAHA! So, our choir director at church has now stopped being choir director. There was a thing said for him at a meeting today and I was asked to make a cake. So, of course, I LOVED the idea of making a cake! HA!
Oh My Goodness... this is by far the most annoying cake I have made yet. HAHA! The main problem was... it was chocolate. Any cake decorator KNOWS that chocolate cake is the DEATH of all cake decorating if you don't do things right. Well, let's just say I didn't do it right. There was crumbs EVERYWHERE! I thought I didn't need a crumb coat... but I totally did! So what should have taken only 2 batches of frosting ended up taking 4 because I had to throw most of the first 2 batches out... :P
But, with my mom's help, it all turned out just great! Everyone at church absolutely LOVED it! I am not much of a sweets person so I didn't try it myself... HAHA! Yeah... I know... Crazy. ;)

Anyways... Now it's time for...

PACKERS!!!
Oh my goodness, I am so excited for the Super Bowl TODAY!!!
Up above you see Aaron Rodgers doing his famous CHAMPIONSHIP BELT move... :) HAHA! Let's hope we see a lot of that tonight, yes?
HAHAHA! Kind of a failed Lambeau Leap... But HEY at least he tried! :D
So my family is having FONDUE... is that how you spell that? HAHA! And we are having a few people come over from church. It should be a pretty exciting time!
Alright... How can you compete against a FLYING QUARTERBACK??? HAHA! If you can believe it, he actually completed this pass to someone... I think... HA! I am pretty sure he did. AWESOME!!!!!!! :D
I love the throwback jerseys. They look so COOL! My dad actually has an Aaron Rodgers one. It's pretty stinking awesome! And I love that the helmets are brown. They are brown because this jersey is from WAAAY back when there were those leather helmets instead of the new ones now. Pretty interesting, huh? Yes, yes it is! :)
That's right, Rodgers! You spike that ball after running in for a touchdown! My goodness... I sure hope we see a lot of ball-spiking tonight from the Packers!

GO PACK GO!!!

Well, I hope all of you have a WONDERFUL Super Bowl Sunday!!!... Except you Steelers fans... HAHA!

GO PACK GO Birthday Cake!

 Wooo! GO PACKERS!!!
So, my sister's boyfriend, Ben, is a HUGE football/Packers fan. So, I knew exactly what cake I was going to make for his birthday! :D
This was my first try at making a cake that wasn't completely flat on top. Sure I made a circle cake and a heart cake... But NEVER something like this. IT WAS SUPER FUN!
I had a great time making this cake and it turned out WaaaY better than I expected. :D
What the cake was and stuff was kept completely secret from Ben while I was decorating it, and I think he was very happy with how it turned out! :)
AND DID YOU HEAR THE NEWS???
PACKERS ARE GOING TO THE NFC CHAMPIONSHIP!!!!!
AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:D :D :D
It's all so exciting!
We... Could... Go... All... The... WAAAYYY!!!
Hope you all have a FANTASTIC Packer weekend! :)

A New Year's Eve Birthday Cake

My friend Teona's birthday is on New Year's Eve! So, I made her a little cake! I know it's not very New Year's Eve-y, but hey what can you do? :)
It is just a white cake mix and is frosted and decorated with my homemade buttercream icing. I tried to make the flowers look like those Hawaiian flowers because Teona love Hawaii. Did it work? Even if it didn't, they are still really cute! :)
I also tried to make it look like the flowers were falling off the sides of the cake. I have some actually on the side and a few half on top and half on the side. I think it all turned out good!
And Teona liked it so that's all that counts!

My Last Cake Class!

My last cake class in the Flowers and Cake Design course was this last Monday, so here is my final cake!
It is a spice cake with apple pie filling. It is actually 2 batches of cake mix because I had to make 2 cakes. This had to be 3 inches tall... WOAH! I tell you what, this cake was MASSIVE! It was 10" by 3". Oh it was so heavy too... HAHA! And it was really terrible because the bottom fell out of BOTH cakes... :P So basically it is 4 layers of cake held together by frosting. I was so scared that one of the sides was just going to totally fall apart. But, the decorating went WONDERFUL! All of the frosting is my homemade buttercream. YUM! :)
I shared my cake with my knitting friends again. De Ja Vu? I shared my last final cake with them too! HEHE! Anyways, needless to say as soon as we cut into the cake it fell apart... HAHA! I knew it was coming. But, it still tasted good! :)
If I use this cake pan again, I am DEFINITELY NOT doing 2 layers... HAHA! This was a little too big for me. :)
Well, I hope you have a wonderful night... again! (in case you didn't read my last post, that wish was for you!)

Happy Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday to my Mom! She turned the big 2-9 today... ;) Hehe! Just kidding. Don't know that she would want me posting her age on the internet tho. HAHA! Anyways, go take a visit to her blog, Raspberries and Rose Petals, and wish her a huge HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! ... if you want. :)
Anyways, I made her cake!!! It is a french vanilla cake with raspberry jam filling, by her personal request. All the frosting is buttercream. This was my first time making roses with buttercream. I tell you what... they are super annoying! It is hard to get the right consistency so that they aren't all crumbly. :P
Brianna and Ben came home for the party! And it's a good thing too because otherwise we would have had too much cake! HA! And extra cake laying around is just NOT good... ;) It was great seeing them for a while! We spent the WHOLE day watching football games.
THE PACKERS KILLED THE VIQUEENS!!! WOOOOOOOT!!!... The Packers are amazing. :)
So, in the end, the cake turned out to be a success. I was a little worried about the stupid frosting making the roses all terrible and such, but all is good! It was a great time spent with family. :)

Have a wonderful Sunday night!

Un Magnifique Gâteau!! (A Wonderful Cake!)

I made a cake for my family in Marshfield while I was visiting last week! This cake is a French vanilla cake mix and is filled with raspberry jam. It was my first time trying to make the frosting look smooth! It's actually quite simple, just take a paper towel without a design on it (like the Viva brand) and use your hand to smooth all over the cake! :)
Course I had some extra cake mix so I just HAD to use Gramma's mini cupcake pan!!! SO CUTE!!!!!! She ended up giving the pans to me, so now I will make mini cupcakes ALL THE TIME! They are terrible because they are bite size so you end up eating like... 10 of them! HAHA!
I used royal icing to make some flowers to put on top of the cake. Everyone was watching me... so the first few turned out really terrible because I was shaking so bad. HAHA! But the rest turned out good!
Et Voilà! Le gâteau fini! (The finished cake ;D)
I just love the colors! The green on the leaves is so vibrant! Well, the flowers (being made with royal icing and all) turned out to be hard as a rock so we couldn't even cut through them. HAHA! Sooo... next time that I actually want to EAT the flowers, I will make them with a stiff buttercream. :)

Well, that is all for now! Hope you have a wonderful night!
Au Revoir! À bientôt! (See you soon :))

Long Time, No Blog!

Wow! It sure has been a while since I have posted anything. I have just been sooooo busy lately. So I guess I will just have to do some catch-up, show ya'll what I've been up to. :)

In my next cake class, the Flower and Cake Design Course, we started by making these wonderful flowers!!! They are made with Royal Icing, which basically hardens like a rock. Careful, you might break your teeth if you try and bite into one of these flowers.
These here are the Royal Icing Roses. Aren't they just beautiful? My teacher made this yellow one for a demonstration. I absolutely LOVE roses. The two little blue roses were a couple that I made. I like how one has a little bit of pink on the edges. (That happened because there was still a little bit of pink frosting left in the decorating tip. HA!)

And aren't these little flowers just the CUTEST!!! :D
The flower on the left is a Primrose. It was actually really fun to make, and once again SUPER CUTE! The tiny little flower on the right is an Apple Blossom. Just the cutest little flower in the world. :)
So there it is! All my wonderful icing flowers. :)

Hope you have a wonderful day!

"I AM NOT A WOMAN!!!"

Tonight I had to babysit Katherine! She is the daughter of a family from my church. Quite the exciting girl... never a dull moment. :)
We had lots of fun tonight... MAKING CUPCAKES!!!!!!!!! :D
These are for a party we are throwing at my house on Sunday night for the Packer game! So, of course, we had to color the cupcakes green and yellow! GO PACKER SPIRIT!!!
It was an eventful evening. While the cupcakes were baking, we watched a movie called The Secret Of Kells. It was rated the #1 animated movie last year or something. It was actually really good! I liked it! It's one of Katherine's favorite movies, so therefore I just HAD to see it. :)
Katherine's Quote Of The Night:
After my dad called out to her saying "WOMAN!!" she says, "I AM NOT A WOMAN!!!"
HA! Such an entertaining child. :)

Have an amazing weekend!

"Let Them Eat Cake!" - Day 26

Now this here is a cake worthy enough for Marie Antoinette! It is elegant and delicious!
I decided to take her famous quote to heart and share my wonderful cake with my Knit-Night buddies. :)
"LET THEM EAT CAKE!!!" says I,
...and there was much rejoicing...
"...yaaaay..."
(quote reference for all you Monty Python fanatics!)
I am glad that everyone enjoyed my cake. The pieces were absolutely ENORMOUS! I figured out the reason why. I meant to put 10 shaggy mums on the top so that I could cut it into 10 pieces... but I only made 8 mums... HA! Oh well. :)
The remains of my cake...
The biggest piece of half eaten cake on the bottom is mine... HA! I have made about 3 cakes and I have not actually finished a single piece of any of them. Goodness. Well... it's probably a good thing. Hehe!
Knit-Night was very fun tonight... but I didn't get any knitting done... :P I managed to string a bunch of beads onto some yarn. You will see why in a few days probably! :)
Anyways, hope you all had a wonderful day!
